| Museum of Arts of Chile. The national Museum of the fine arts of Santiago of Chile was founded on September 18, 1880, it acts of the oldest museum of Latin America. Its current buildings were carried out under the direction of the Chilean architect Emilio Jecquier into 1910 who reproduced here the Small Palate of Paris by adding to it a cupola of glass, drawn and built in Belgium, which crowns construction. This cupola gives a very special luminosity to the central hall of the Museum where are exposed the sculptures of the artists of 19th and of the 20th century. The Museum has more than 5600 original works (sculptures, paintings, drawings) of the most significant national and international artists. |
