Thomas Gainsborough. Conversation in a park. About 1746.
This work represents a couple of young elegant people who discuss in a park. It is doubtless about Gainsborough itself as well as his young Margaret wife during the year of their marriage. Painted at the beginning of its career towards 1746 this table halfway between the portrait, the scene of kind and the landscape, constitutes one of the elements of a quite particular kind of British painting: the
" conversation part ". This one puts in scene characters discussing between them within their framework life.
This table releases much freshness, of softness and of romanticism, it illustrates with wonder this a little ignored kind but nevertheless full with charm.
