| Museum of Orsay. Paris. The museum of Orsay is a national museum opened with the public in December 1986 to expose in all its diversity, the artistic creation of the Western world of 1848 to 1914. It consisted of national collections coming primarily from three establishments: the museum of the Louvre for works of artists born since 1820, the museum of the Play of Palm devoted since 1947 to impressionism and the national museum of Modern art which, when it settled in 1976 in the Center George Pompidou, preserved only works of artists born after 1870. The collections of Orsay are very famous for works of the impressionists. |
