Dadaism. (1916)
The Dada term comes from hobby-horse, a childish prattling. This denomination is imposed by Jean Arp and the German poet Hugo Ball. In 1916 Hobby-horse designates a group of artists and writers accustomed of the Voltaire cabaret in Zurich: (Jean Arp, Sophie Taeuber, Marcel Janco, Hans Richter, and the poets Hugo Ball, Richard Huelsenbeck, Tristan Tzara).Les dadaïsts seek the rupture with the culture, the values and the traditional forms of expression. Their goal is the radical return to a creation in a childish state. Works must reflect a meaningless world. The artistic production is regarded as accessory.
